Dad's Coveted Lemonade
This is my Dad's Old Fashioned Lemonade concentrate recipe. He would store this
in the refrigerator, and when he made a glass of lemonade he would simply pour
some in a glass of ice cold water and voila! A refreshing alternate is using cold club
soda, making it similar to an Italian soda. Triple Sec would also make a nice
addition. Garnish with a lemon slice and enjoy.
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup water
grated peel of one lemon
1 1/2 cups lemon juice
Measure the sugar, the water, and the lemon zest into a large saucepan. Bring the
mixture to a boil for five minutes, stirring constantly. Let the mixture cool to room
temperature.
Add the lemon juice to the cooled mixture. Pour this syrup into a jar and cover
tightly with a lid. This syrup can be kept in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks, if it
lasts that long.
